Trivets

One of my collections is iron trivets.  Don't know why they appeal to me, maybe it's just another example of functional art that I've carried to an extreme.

Trivets on white wall.

I was thinking my white walls were perfect for displaying the black trivets.  Then I saw this picture and decided my walls needed a little color.  After a few weeks of searching for the perfect color, I finally settled on a Home Depot paint called "Dapper Tan" and spent a couple of days painting the back hallway. I watched the walls get darker as I painted, but when I took a picture of my painting project and looked at it ...

Trivets on beige/tan wall.

... and looked, and looked...  I couldn't see much difference.  I started to wonder what all the fuss was about.

Trivets on tan/beige wall.

I took another picture.   It still looks almost the same as it did before the paint.   I guess I should stop taking pictures and get on with life.

For years I wanted my house to be perfect - just like a page from a magazine.   Somewhere along the way I discovered 'perfect' changes every month, and takes up way to much of my time.  I think now I'm just wanting comfortable, cute and quirky.  Pleasant.

Do you ever find yourself working for perfect when what you really want is pleasant?

I l-o-v-e your trivets. I've got a couple but see that I've a ways to go to collect as many as you have :) Your wall color looks great behind them, too.

Oh my! My paternal grandmother and my folks collected these trivets. My brother must have inherited them because I never saw them again after their passing....
Yours are great!

Joy, I recently decided to quite trying to be perfect around the house. Guess this is why it needs a darn good clean before I leave on this huge trip in a couple of weeks. I was always painting, walls, furniture, garden stuff, anything standing still long enough. I can't paint walls anymore - shoulders are worn out - and paying professionals is getting expensive.

Perfect, no. Pleasant and comfortable, definitely yes!!

Great trivet collection and the wall color is lovely, good job.

I notice your Home Sweet Home sign has a touch of green. Maybe something green on the side of the sign would make bring it all together. I like the wall color.

I think your trivets are amazing! I only have one that I've had for a very long time. I don't see them around any more. Great collection.

What a fantastic collection of trivets!! I like the walls too!! I used to strive for perfect, but found that is just not possible. I need to do some painting too, but can not muster the energy to start!! I used to be able to do those things in a days time, now....I think it would take me forever! Happy VTT!
